Applications are invited from ambitious researchers for three positions in Economics – at Professorial, Lecturer, and “Developmental” lecturer level. The latter is tailored for newly minted PhDs seeking the opportunity to develop their research before taking up a regular lectureship position.
The Economics Department at Lancaster is part of LUMS - a world-ranked international business school which has topped the UK research rankings for nearly two decades. Economics is a self-standing department and one of the largest in the School. There is very strong demand for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and it has a thriving PhD community. The Department provides an excellent research environment and has strong links across disciplines within the School and beyond. The Department has transformed in recent years and these new positions consolidate this development. There are three coherent research groups within the Department – Macro, led by David Peel; Human Capital, led by Ian Walker, and Micro, led by Alexander Matros and Dakshina de Silva.
Applicants should have a PhD, or be close to completion in the case of early career researchers, and should have published at an international standard or, the case of a junior appointment, be able to demonstrate their potential to do so in the future. Applicants for appointment at a senior level will additionally require sustained publication success at an international standard.
We are open to applications across the range of Economics sub-disciplines: but skills in international, environment, development would be particularly welcome for one of the posts.
