Senior Teaching Technician

We are seeking a proactive and organised Physics Senior Teaching Laboratory Technician to lead our small technical team and ensure the provision of high-quality technical support for undergraduate teaching laboratories. This is a 12-month fixed term contract with an end date of 30^th September 2027.

Working as part of the team you will 

• Supervise and lead a small team of laboratory technicians, providing day to day support where required.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee the preparation and set-up of practical laboratory sessions, ensuring equipment is available and ready to use.
• Carry out first-line diagnosis, maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment.    
• Maintain teaching laboratories to a high standard, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Provide technical expertise during laboratory teaching sessions.
• Manage laboratory equipment including inventory control, procurement and replacement planning.
• Work collegiately with academic staff to support the delivery of teaching activities and develop practical experiments.
• Support departmental open days, outreach activities and public engagement events.
