LANCASTER UNIVERSITY COLLEGE AT BEIJING JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY (Shandong, China)

Maternity Cover required for a Computer Science Lecturer (teaching and scholarship) to commence from 2nd March 2026

Salary: depending on qualifications and experience: Range from £41,064 to £59,966 Grade 7/8

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a joint institute between Lancaster University and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The campus is located in a remote seaside town one hour south of Weihai city in Eastern Shandong province. The campus is served by an adjacent bus station, as well as a high-speed railway station. Weihai airport, which connects domestically and internationally, is less than an hour away. 

In the first instance this role is to provide maternity cover for one year and will be based on the campus in China for two semesters, which are of 16 weeks duration. Furnished accommodation, international medical cover and two return flights included in the remuneration package. The role will focus on delivering high-quality teaching across core computer science undergraduate modules including Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Background skills in Software Engineering and/or Software development and strong programming skills would also be welcome. A PhD is required in a related area, and the position is subject to successful visa application.
