Lancaster University Students' Union provides excellent services, opportunities and facilities to support and inspire our diverse population of over 16,000 students. With students at the very heart of all we do, we are looking for a highly effective Head of Commercial Services to join our staff team. 

Please note this job is with Lancaster University Students' Union which is an independent organisation to Lancaster University. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Commercial Services will play a proactive role in for the oversight of core services areas: SU Central Supermarket, SU Living, the Sugarhouse (nightclub), events and commercial marketing. The Chief Executive has set the task of these being built in a (customer) student focused and profit driven manner to ensure financial stability and to rebuild the gift aid contribution to the Students’ Union charity.

You will be a leader and manager at the heart of driving forward the commercial activities of the Students’ Union. We are looking for an individual with an entrepreneurial flair, who will develop our commercial services so that they are sector leading and play a big part in student life.

You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and seek to innovate and refresh their offer and approach, ensuring that commercial services are relevant now and in the future. We are looking for a leader who can create a community of students who want to use and be part of the commercial services. A leader who is a people person, who will develop a can-do culture and take their people with them.

The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of leading teams and developing a range of commercial services, which have engaged their customers and shown consistent growth. You will be a visionary leader, a person who can build rapport, achieve sales growth and can turn this into profit and reserves for the Students’ Union
