This is an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty of Science and Technology’s (FST) professional services team.  We are looking to recruit a highly-motivated Departmental Officer to provide effective management and administration services for the recently rebranded School of Mathematical Sciences (formerly Department of Mathematics and Statistics). This is a particularly interesting time for the School as it is currently undergoing a period of investment and expansion and is in the process of planning an upcoming building relocation.

The Departmental Officer is an important and varied role supporting smooth operations and working closely with the Head of School.  The role supports operational excellence across all of the department’s activities, overseeing governance and facilitating the effective management of resources, including human resources, and planning. The Departmental Officer is the key point of contact for the School with the wider university professional services and successfully coordinates internal/external working partnerships and relationships. The Departmental Officer is also a key member of the FST professional services team, working alongside peers across the six other FST departments, the Faculty and the wider university to respond to change, share best practice and deliver continuous improvement.

We’re looking for a highly-motivated, organised and pro-active colleague with a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.   The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining oversight of and staying up-to-date with operational activity across the School.
