The Sport Lancaster Team operate a purpose-built Sports Centre, facilitating our 8.5m climbing wall, multi-function Sports Halls, Swimming pool, sauna & steam room, 100 station Technogym Fitness Suite, Squash Courts. We also operate the University’s impressive Outdoor facilities including Rugby Pitches, 3G surfaces, Tennis courts and much more.  

The Sports Centre is owned and managed by the University and is open to students across the UK, University staff and members of the local community. Sport Lancaster also proudly hosts several national events throughout the year.  

Working as part of the operational team, as a climbing instructor you are someone that is responsive to member needs, being regularly available to help provide help and advice in the Climbing Wall. You will deliver group Climbing sessions to adults and children, and other related climbing activities to an exceptional level. Your role will ensure safe and effective working practices are in place which are delivered to an exceptional level of customer standards.

This role is full time, 36.5 hours average per week working a shift rota pattern. 

Shift Work  

You will be required to work on a shift-based system, which may include the requirement for you to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, University closure days and bank holidays. 

Please take notice of our shift times below, you must have the ability to arrive at the Sports Centre, ready to start work at within the times shown. 

Sports Centre opening times are as follows, and Climbing Sessions may be programmed at any point within these times - 

Monday to Friday - 6am - 10pm 

Weekends - 7am - 6pm
