The PDRA will join the internationally recognised group of RF engineers working on particle accelerators. The post will involve the experimental testing of thin-film coated superconducting RF cavities, and simulations/design to support the testing. The Cockcroft Institute currently has systems for measuring DC magnetic field penetration, planar surface resistance, and coated cavities to measure superconducting samples provided by collaborators at Daresbury Laboratory. This post would include development and commissioning of upgrades to these test stands or new test stands, operation of the existing test stands to measure SRF films, analysis of results, and testing of SRF cavities for other projects as required
Ideally applicants should have a PhD in a related subject and experience such as high field RF cavities or superconducting RF.
