Strategic Planning and Governance
This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual wanting to develop a career in governance within a large and diverse organisational setting, to gain valuable experience. We are looking for a dynamic colleague with experience of servicing committees or meetings, together with a strong customer focus and excellent written, interpersonal and organisational skills, to join a small and busy team based in Strategic Planning and Governance for a year.
Lancaster is a high-performing University with a global reputation, and is in an exciting period as we develop a new strategy to takes us into the future. You will support the delivery of the strategic ambition through a mixture of committee, complaints management and compliance-related and project work. Key responsibilities for this role include: to act as Secretary to a number of University committees; to support the management of student complaints; and other governance and compliance-related activities/projects. You will be working with colleagues across the institution and have the power to persuade and influence and the ability to deal with challenges in an assertive yet professional manner. You will report to the Head of Governance Services but also work closely with the Director of Strategic Planning and Governance, and other members of the team.
You should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the role and responsibilities of governance in HE (or a similar organisation) and the associated legal/compliance framework as well as being able to demonstrate resilience. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with exceptional administration skills and the aspiration/ambition to develop their skills in supporting and enabling effective governance.
This role offers the opportunity to work a balance of at home and on campus, based on committee needs.
The position is part time 29.5 hours per week, on a fixed-term basis until 28 June 2027.
