The Sport Lancaster team operate a purpose-built Sports Centre, facilitating our 8.5m climbing wall, multi-function sports halls, swimming pool, sauna & steam room, 100-station Technogym Fitness Suite, squash courts and much more. We also operate the University’s impressive outdoor facilities including rugby pitches, 3G surfaces, tennis courts and additional training spaces.
The Sports Centre is owned and managed by the University and is open to students across the UK, University staff and members of the local community. Sport Lancaster also proudly hosts several national events throughout the year.

Working as part of the operational team, as a Fitness Instructor you will be responsive to members’ needs, regularly available to provide help and advice on the gym floor and deliver fitness services to an exceptional level. Your role will ensure safe and effective working practices are maintained and delivered to exceptional customer standards. You will also provide services and support for the University’s engagement and wellbeing strategy.
Alongside your Fitness Instructor duties, this role offers the exciting opportunity to grow your Personal Training experience within the Sports Centre. You’ll also become part of our expanding HYROX team, coaching high-energy HYROX classes and motivating members to improve their strength, fitness and overall performance in a dynamic gym environment.

Shift Work
You will be required to work on a shift-based system, which includes the requirement for you to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, University closure days and bank holidays. Please take notice of our shift times below. You must have the ability to arrive at the Sports Centre ready to start work at the following times:
Monday – Friday
Early Shifts – 5:30am start
Late Shifts – 10:30pm finish
Weekends
Early Shifts – 7:00am start
Late Shifts – 6:30pm finish
