A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Conferences and Events+ team at Lancaster University. 

Working with the Conferences and Events+ team, you will manage the guest rooms reception and deal with all general enquiries. Using your experience in coordination with group bookings and excellent customer service, you will play a key role and bring support for events and conferences that exceed expectations.

Working in a customer-facing environment, you will be a confident communicator, be proactive in solving problems with a proven track record in outstanding customer service and have an excellent attention to detail. You will demonstrate the ability to build, manage and maintain long-term relationships, and will be used to last minute changes.

You will be a service driven and results-orientated individual with excellent general IT and administrative skills and have a good first level of education. This is a great opportunity if you already have experience in the hotel/hospitality industry and have general administrative skills. You will be the link between many departments to ensure the customers’ requests are dealt in a professional manner.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in hotel/hospitality industry.
  • Experience in general admin and ability to gather and present information.
  • Experience of using booking systems, databases and of producing invoices.
  • To demonstrate initiative, be proactive and a problem solver.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills (including proofreading skills) with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, particularly MS Office packages.

The Conferences and Events+ department at Lancaster University supports a range of high-profile events and conferences for the institution as well as events for the general public and offers between 80 and 1000 bedrooms to visitors.

You must meet all the essential criteria on the person specification document to be considered for interview. 

This is a full-time permanent role with working hours during evening and weekends in peak season.
