This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced researcher to work within a multidisciplinary research programme and network. We welcome applicants with a background in business & management disciplines, with a preference for a specialist in sustainable supply chain management. The researcher will contribute to the UKRI NERC funded “Plastic Packaging in People’s Lives (PPiPL): Bridging the consumer attitude behaviour gap” project at Lancaster University in collaboration with 11 project partners. The researcher will be based at Lancaster University and function as part of a specialist cluster working on sustainability issues and innovations within the Centre for Consumption Insights (CCI). The PPiPL project is committed to the delivery of innovative solutions to eliminate problematic or unnecessary food plastic packaging waste.

Work on the research project includes direct contact with households, businesses, NGOs, and the government in the UK as key study stakeholders. The PPiPL project will deploy a mix of qualitative methods to address food plastic packaging challenges and generate actionable guidance for policy, key circular supply chain stakeholders and consumers.  The successful candidate will be familiar with conducting empirical research with a variety of such stakeholders as well as being experienced with producing literature reviews. This specific post holder will be required to contribute to the wider aims of the project, whilst primarily focusing on the aims of the supply chain management work package, which involves conducting action research project(s) and will require travel to visit the organisations involved as appropriate. Thus the post holder will be involved in managing & evaluating action research project(s) and engaging in knowledge exchange with society in relation to the field of research.

Within the research team you will take a key role in planning, coordinating and delivering the research project while having a flexible working schedule to respond to project requirements and timelines.  We expect the successful candidates to be committed to proactive leadership role in the implementation of the PiPPL’s research and publication strategy as well as collaborating and contributing positively to the sustainability cluster as a whole.
