The Facilities Division operates across campus to maintain and develop our buildings, providing vital support services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 

A great opportunity has arisen to join a busy, dynamic and friendly team in support of our vision “making campus an inspiring place to be”.

We currently have a vacancy for a College Porter on our main Bailrigg Campus within the Facilities Division at Lancaster University.  The post is a full time position working an average 42 hours per week on a 24 hour shift rotation.  On top of the basic salary the post attracts an additional Shift Allowance and Contractual Overtime allowance.  

You should be hard working, reliable, willing to learn and possess excellent customer service skills. Portering experience is not essential but desirable with experience of working in a similar environment.  You should be comfortable working with computers and multiple software systems. You will need to be educated to GCSE level in Maths and English and be committed to high standards, able to work on your own initiative whilst also being comfortable working in a team environment. To be successful in this role you will need to have a flexible approach to dealing with issues that may arise and an aptitude for problem solving. You should also be open to adopting new ideas and processes and have a willingness to undergo development training.
