We are looking for a candidate to join our IT and AV specialist engineers to deliver second line support to users with a focus on supporting audio visual requirements for events and learning spaces. Alongside supporting key University events such as Graduation Ceremonies, you will work both with internal and external clients to deliver various technical aspects of events as directed across campus encompassing all elements of audio and video systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team at Lancaster University, where we provide IT support and services within a Higher Education environment.
Major Duties:
- To provide IT and AV Support, as part of a team. Specifically:
- Installation and maintenance and operation of all types of Audio Visual equipment including Video Collaboration systems such as Microsoft Teams Rooms
- Installation and maintenance of IT hardware and software
- Offer second-line user support in the use of IT and AV.
- Fault diagnosis and subsequent resolution, referral and recording of outcomes
- Support IT and AV in teaching and learning spaces.
- To be responsible for audio and visual aspects of large event spaces, including:
- Sound and lighting engineering for events
- Projection for events
- The commissioning of AV and IT equipment in new event spaces
- Provide training in the use of AV and IT systems to individual end users and other ISS staff`
- Identify commonly encountered user problems and work with ISS colleagues to address these at source.
- Work to appropriate service levels with defined quality of service metrics that will enable ISS to maintain and demonstrate high quality of service provision.
Required experience, skills & abilities :
- Level 3 qualification, equivalent to at least 2 ‘A’ levels and/or experience working in a relevant area of IT and/or AV. (Essential)
- Relevant IT or AV Qualification, Service Management Qualification, ITIL or equivalent current experience. (Desirable)
- Experience of running events requiring audio-visual support including sound desk and light desk control set-up and engineering. (Essential)
- A general understanding of IT and AV systems with a focus on desktop computing, device networking and the software tools used. (Essential)
- Experience of the commissioning and maintenance of all types of Audio-Visual equipment. (Essential)
- Experience and understanding of Microsoft applications and operating systems. (Essential).
- Experience of IT Service Management in a Higher Education environment to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. (Desirable)
- Ability to work within a team, towards clearly defined aims and objectives. (Desirable)
- Experience of supporting end users and working in Higher Education sector. (Desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the emotional intelligence to develop strong professional relationships with all staff. (Essential)
- Ability to approach problem-solving in a pragmatic, organised, and efficient manner, with the capability to document and convey technical information to colleagues. (Essential)
- Proven track record of personal development in relevant fields, along with a commitment to ongoing growth. (Essential)
