Senior PostDoctoral Research Associate
Biomedical & Life Sciences
£33,518 to £38,832
Tuesday 21 November 2017
Thursday 30 November 2017
A 3-year postdoc position is available in the Mort / Allinson labs in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences Lancaster University, UK. The post is funded by North West Cancer Research and is a collaboration between Dr Richard Mort and Dr Sarah Allinson to develop a preclinical model for the earliest events in melanoma initiation.
Lancaster University has a world-class reputation as a centre for excellence in teaching and research. The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, is a rapidly growing, innovative and vibrant Division whose research effort is directed towards understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. Research areas include, but are not limited to, infectious diseases, parasitology, neurodegeneration, mental health, ageing, immunology and cancer biology.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual able to implement our plan of work and explore new avenues as they arise. A background in melanocyte biology is not a requirement but experience of live-imaging techniques and image analysis would be an advantage as would a home office personal licence. You will employ state of the art imaging, tissue culture methods and transgenic models to explore the melanocyte lineage during development and in response to UV irradiation in the adult.
The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences is a friendly research environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee and which actively promotes a healthy work-life balance. The Faculty is committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies and has held a Silver Athena SWAN award since 2014 in recognition of its good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.
Informal enquiries, and pre-application visits, are welcomed. Please contact one of the following:
