With a strong background in control or robotics research, you will investigate novel robotic and autonomous systems for case study applications in unstructured and challenging environments. As part of the National Centre for Nuclear Robotics, there will be a focus on nuclear decommissioning. This will involve fundamental research and the development of novel algorithms, in addition to practical robotics research in the laboratory. You should have a PhD in Control Engineering, Mathematics, Robotics or equivalent, and a strong background in data analysis and the use of simulations and modelling methods. We will also consider candidates who instead have a very strong expertise in more applied aspects of robotics and mechatronic systems. You will be willing to engage in internal as well as national and international external collaborations.

You will be joining a dedicated group of scientists and engineers working in allied fields, with laboratories equipped with a range of robotic systems, including hydraulic manipulators, laser cutters, UAVs etc.

This is an 18-month fixed term appointment, with the aim to extend for at least one more year.
