Chair in Cyber Security

The School of Computing and Communications is making a new appointment to a Chair in Cyber Security.  There is a further strategic appointment at Reader level; both will complement our recent Chair appointment focusing on the systems aspects of Cyber Security.  We particularly welcome applications from strong and collegiate individuals in areas including but not limited to: Security in Programming Languages, Experimental Aspects of Security, Formal Methods Security or Risk Analysis, Socio-Economic Aspects of Security; or aligned to existing strengths including analysis of human behaviours in the context of security, security aspects of network resilience, security of industrial control systems and IoT, big data analytics to study security and privacy issues, digital health and open online data sources, and novel privacy frameworks.

The position will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and future direction of Security Lancaster, and exploit synergies with institutes of Data Science, Social Futures, Material Science, and the £41m investment in a new Digital Health campus.

The Chair must be able to address academic and external audiences to ensure success.  You will inform strategy and operational policy to drive our research and education delivery, positioning the School as a leading source of expertise in the area of cyber security. The appointment will be at professorial (full or tenured) level.  You will be responsible for development of a research agenda at the highest global level, in turn enhancing our reputation and attracting external stakeholder engagement.
