An exciting opportunity is available to join the Faculty of Science & Technology as a Partnerships and Business Engagement Manager focusing on Physical Sciences. The role will primarily focus on deepening existing partnerships aswell as identifying new collaborators. This will include developing collaborative and contract research, supporting intellectual property commercialisation, economic regeneration, co-location of business, professional training and student project based partnerships.

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) is driven by the goal of continued improvement and a key element in this strategy is world-class knowledge exchange and business engagement activities. This exciting new role will contribute to our excellence in this space, underpinned by our campus based co-location facilities in InfoLab21, The Lancaster Environment Centre and the recently completed Collaborative Technology Access Programme facility (cTAP) a £11.3-million undertaking containing almost £7-million of cutting edge instrumentation. The cTAP facility targets industry engagement in the form of new collaborative and contract research initiatives and will form part of this posts portfolio. Additional facilities associated with Physical Sciences include:

  • Additive Manufacturing Capability. 
  • The new Isolab research facilities. This is a suite of three ultra-low noise laboratories. It minimises noise vibration and noise/ electromagnetic disturbance to provide one of   the most advanced 'ultra-clean' measurement environments in the world.
  • The Quantum Technology Centre containing £4 million worth of nanotechnology equipment, including state-of-the-art clean-room fabrication facilities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with relevant experience to develop and deliver partnerships with a wide range of external organisations relevant to the Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Departments as well as Energy Lancaster and the Materials Science Institute.

This is a full time position for 12 months fixed term, to cover a secondment. Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis may do so, but will require line manager approval before commencing the position.
