Senior Research Development Manager

This is an exciting short-term or secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave. You will join our established team of Senior Research Development Managers within the Division of Research and Enterprise Services and reporting to the Associate Director of Research Services.
This role will primarily focus on research areas within the remit of the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council and the Science and Technology Facilities Council but will not be limited to these funders. There is significant freedom to operate individually and as a part of the team across the University, facilitating, co-producing and leading large-scale, high quality projects and strategic initiatives. You will work closely with the Faculty Research Partnership Mangers and the faculty-facing research development staff and with Business Development Managers across campus.
You will have strategic insight to major funding organisations within your remit and will proactively generate, identify and pursue opportunities in areas identified for strategic development. You will have strong leadership qualities and excellent communication and influencing skills.
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with relevant experience to develop and deliver strategic research initiatives working in partnership with academic and professional colleagues.
This is a full time position for 6 months fixed term in the first instance to cover a maternity leave. Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis may do so, but will require line manager approval before commencing the position.
