Research Services
Salary:   £34,189 to £39,609
Closing Date:   Sunday 31 March 2019
Interview Date:   Monday 15 April 2019

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking for a rewarding and challenging role, who can bring relevant administrative experience and skills to the post.

You will be an organised administrator and a responsive team player with excellent communication skills. You will have previously worked in either a university, preferably in a Research Office, or in a similar research environment and will have experience of research management and the research funding landscape. You will have demonstrable skills in working with academics and professional staff to provide integrated support to develop research proposals, keeping abreast of research funding opportunities, communicating this to the research community, and maintaining an overview of the University’s research expertise.

Working as part of a wider team supporting research development, the post holder will need to work flexibly across a number of different activities. You will have the ability to quickly establish strong links with key academic staff, colleagues in Research Services and more widely within Professional Services to build networks across the University.  This will require you to work effectively as part of dynamic teams that can operate successfully in a complex and changing environment in order to multi-task and to meet deadlines and service standards.

You must have financial awareness and a good understanding of the key elements of costing and pricing. You must be well-organised and possess the ability to work effectively under pressure with poise and professionalism. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline would be an advantage but is not essential.

There are two posts available, which will be predominantly supporting research development activities in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:

1. A post to be appointed on a full time, fixed term basis until 31st August 2019 with the potential for a further extension until 30th November 2019. This post will start immediately.

2. A post to be appointed on a full time, fixed term basis until 31st December 2019 with the potential for a further extension until 31st March 2020. This post will start from July 2019.

Research Services is part of the University’s Research and Enterprise Services Division. It provides expert advice, guidance and administrative support to Lancaster’s research community in the development of bids for externally funded research and the administration of successfully awarded grants. The team provides a range of research support activities at both pre- and post-award including advice on funders’ terms and conditions, proposal preparation, costing and pricing, research integrity and ethics, post-award grant administration for research grants and contracts from a diverse range of researcher funders.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Zoe Bolton (z.bolton@lancaster.ac.uk), Acting Research Development and Faculty Partnership Manager.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
