Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) is seeking to enhance its already strong national and international profile of excellence, and is appointing to an international programme of the University by appointing a Lecturer-Scholar in water or Earth science. 

Lancaster University has established a joint institute with its highly ranked partner Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The campus, called Lancaster University College - Beijing Jiaotong University, is located in Weihai in the Shandong province in China. We wish to appoint at Lecturer-Scholar level, to collaborate with our key strategic partner in China. Their key responsibilities will include:

  1. Every year deliver 32 weeks teaching across the year at Weihai campus; 

  2. Conducting scholarship activities to remain contemporary with your scientific knowledge; 

  3. Engaging with the operation and running of the Department and the Weihai campus.

You will be expected to teach at the Joint Institute in Weihai, China as part of the international strategic partnership that has been established between Beijing-Jiaotong University and Lancaster University (BJTU-LU). You will be able to deliver research-led teaching, teach broadly in the areas of water sciences, soil sciences, earth sciences and hazards with the key areas being water and soil. 

The recruitment of this post is taking place at the same time as the recruitment of a Lecturer (Ref: A2728), both in water and Earth science. It is important that the successful two candidates will be able to cover the required teaching at Weihai together with the third Lecturer already appointed. 

We welcome enquiries about the possibility of working part-time in a job-share arrangement. Also, we are open to discuss whether a candidate can be based mainly in China with visits to Lancaster University.
