We invite applications for a Research Fellow (Research Software Engineering) position to join the team behind the internationally recognised, EPSRC-funded STOR-i Centre for Doctoral Training.

Established in 2010, STOR-i has developed an international reputation for its unique training programme, using industrial challenge as the catalyst for methodological advance. Our cohort-based, 4 year scheme offers a distinctive PhD training experience, designed and delivered with a range of industrial partners. The next generation of our programme (2019-2028) will build on this exciting foundation, offering a distinctive PhD training experience designed to train the next generation of Statistics and Operational Research leaders. 

In recognition of the Centre’s ongoing commitment to enabling impactful and reproducible research, we have created this new role that will work alongside STOR-i’s leadership and support team. As the Centre’s champion for Research Software Engineering, you will act as a beacon for good statistical and operational research computing, disseminating best practice and providing mentorship amongst STOR-i’s research community. 

You should have a PhD in a subject with substantial mathematical content. You will also have extensive experience of open-source software development, including package development and experience of the academic research software development cycle, including deployment, maintenance and user support. 

This is an indefinite position available from October 2019, subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period.
