Part-time Research Associate in Language and Literacy

A Research Associate is being sought to work in the Language and Literacy Laboratory at Lancaster University, supervised by Professor Kate Cain. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in psychology, linguistics, or a closely related discipline, with a focus on language and/or literacy development or disorders. The position is for 4 years on a 0.5 FTE contract. 

You will support Prof Cain’s research programme during her term as Head of the Psychology Department. The work will involve recruiting experimental participants, setting up and running language and literacy experiments with children and adults, analysing data, and supporting the development of papers for publication. Experience of advanced statistical techniques such as linear mixed effects or structural equation modelling is desirable. You will also be expected to take an active role in user-engagement and impact-related work with local schools, educational and speech and language therapy services.
