The Departments of Organisation, Work and Technology (see and Marketing (see at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) invite applications for an International Lectureship/Senior Teaching Associate to begin as soon as possible. The departments welcome applications in all areas of management that fit with research/scholarship relevant to the research themes of the one or both of the two departments. The successful candidate will be appointed to whichever department best fits their research, but will be expected to contribute to teaching in both departments.

The successful candidate will have completed a PhD. For a lectureship they will have an emerging publication track record and some experience of undergraduate teaching. For Senior Teaching Associate they will have an established record of undergraduate teaching and module design. This post arises as a result of international teaching activities, which the successful applicant will need to help deliver. Lancaster University has established a joint institute with its highly ranked partner Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The campus, called Lancaster University College at Beijing Jiaotong University, is located in Weihai in the Shandong province in China. The post involves direct collaboration with our key strategic partner in China and requires the applicant to spend two periods of at least five weeks at BJTU every year. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. For a Lectureship, complementing the internationally-leading research output of the Departments, for Senior Teaching Associate engaging in scholarship that informs teaching in the Departments.
  2. For Lectureship/Senior Teaching Associate, undertaking two visits of at least 5 weeks duration annually to teach on the undergraduate programme in Business Studies at the Weihai campus. This will involve teaching modules relating to both management and organisation studies and marketing. As such, applicants must be able to contribute to teaching activities in both the Department of Organisation, Work and Technology and the Department of Marketing.
  3. For Lectureship/Senior Teaching Associate, teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes at Lancaster University in the UK
  4. Engaging with the administration and day-to-day running of the Departments in Lancaster as well as its international activities.

Members of academic staff are entitled to paid accommodation in Weihai, travel allowances and medical insurance in accordance with Lancaster University’s International (short term) Assignment policy.


The successful applicant will deliver teaching at the Joint Institute in Weihai, China as part of the international strategic partnership between Beijing-Jiaotong University and Lancaster University. Located in the east of Shandong Province, Weihai is surrounded by the Yellow Sea in the north, east and south with a 986 kilometers (613 miles) coastline in total. It neighbours Yantai in the west and is separated from the Korean Peninsula and Japanese chain islands by the sea in the east.
