Experimental Officer for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry

Phase 2 of the National Nuclear User Facility (NNUF) in the United Kingdom is to include a compact accelerator mass spectrometer to be commissioned at Lancaster University in 2021.  This appointment is part of this investment and concerns the role of Experimental Officer to support this significant investment, and the commissioning and operation of what will be an important national facility.

You should have a PhD in Experimental Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (or equivalent) with a strong background in experimental science that has included the use of compact accelerator mass spectrometry, preferably for the analysis of trace quantities of the actinides. Experience of collaboration with the UK nuclear fission research community (both academic and industrial), and of working in a multinational team to strict deadlines, is highly desirable.

You will be joining a highly-regarded and dedicated research group of engineers and scientists, led by Professor Malcolm Joyce, working in a new and well-equipped laboratory-based research environment. 

This is a fixed-term, full-time appointment until 31st March 2023.
