Salary:   £34,804 to £40,322
Closing Date:   Monday 24 February 2020

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Associate in Synthetic Supramolecular Chemistry to work in the group of Dr Nick Evans in the Department of Chemistry at Lancaster University. You will work on a research project incorporating peptides into mechanically interlocked molecules, inspired by naturally occurring lasso peptides. The project will involve investigating a wide range of structural features and studying the impact on the properties of the incorporated peptides. You will be required to carry out both multi-step synthesis and characterization of the interlocked molecules.

This full time position (funded by the Leverhulme Trust for three years) is available in the Department of Chemistry at Lancaster University from 1st April 2020.

You will have a PhD degree (or about to be awarded a PhD) in synthetic supramolecular chemistry or synthetic organic chemistry (or related discipline). Expertise in multi-step organic synthesis and/or peptide chemistry is highly desirable. In addition to excellent synthetic chemistry skills, you will have effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
