You will have A PhD (or award within 12 months) and relevant research experience in Sociophonetics or in a closely related area (e.g. language variation and change, phonetics with a strong sociolinguistic element). You will join internationally known researchers and teachers in such related fields as Sociolinguistics, Phonology, Cognitive Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, English Language study, Discourse Studies, Language Testing, Literacy Research, Second Language Acquisition, and Language Teaching and Learning.

You will pursue research and publication at a level appropriate for submission to the Research Excellence Framework in 2013 and will be expected to supervise MA and PhD students.  You will teach on UG and MA modules in English Sociophonetics, as well as in English Language, Phonetics, and Sociolinguistics more generally. You may also need to travel occasionally for delivery of short distance courses.
