Lectureship in Computer Science

We are seeking 3 new Lecturers/Assistant Professors to join the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University.  Applicants should be computer scientists with a track record of achievement in research, teaching and engagement and have a compelling vision for taking their ideas forward.  Teaching and a collegiate approach are crucial to us:  you should be passionate about joining a team committed to combining both research and education and seeing students succeed. 

For these positions we are prioritising (but not limiting applications to) some of the core areas of computer science including Databases and File Systems, Compilers, Operating Systems, Distributed Systems and Software Engineering (we welcome software engineers with an empirical focus including software analytics, software data mining, software analysis, software testing and human factors in software engineering and where industry links are core to their work). 

Lancaster has particular strengths in collaborative and interdisciplinary work both within the School and through our research centres and institutes and we encourage applications from those who are genuinely interested in this collaborative potential. 

The School of Computing and Communications (SCC) at Lancaster University is a research-intensive environment comprising of over 50 academics and 150 researchers, with a grant portfolio exceeding £25m from a wide range of sources including EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU and industry.  We offer a multidisciplinary environment with enormous potential for collaboration and work on challenging real-world problems especially via our interdisciplinary research institutes in Cybersecurity, Data Science and Social Futures, and £42m Health Innovation Campus. SCC was ranked 7th in the UK in terms of “world-leading and internationally excellent” research by the UK government’s REF2014 evaluation.
