This position will work within the multi award winning Centre for Global Eco-innovation (CGE), at Lancaster University.  CGE supports technical research and development to develop low carbon innovations which address global challenges.  The Centre works with North West small and medium sized enterprises to develop new products and services which enhance the local economy.  It has a number of projects in partnership with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and the Universities of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores, Chester, Cumbria and Central Lancashire.

This post is ideal for motivated individuals seeking a career in business development and higher education research and implementation. You will be based with the Enterprise and Business Partnerships Team in the Lancaster Environment Centre, working in the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation. This role is integral to the success of the project, developing and managing relationships with external partners such as companies, organisations, charities, community groups, LEPs, councils and other HEIs.

The main duties of the post will include:

  • Arranging and attending outreach events to engage with new stakeholders and SMEs
  • Developing on-going business relationships, introducing contacts as necessary to build up a cohort of beneficiaries engaging with CGE
  • Development of research projects with SMEs which will fulfil their requirements, managing company expectations and commitment throughout the project lifetime
  • To ensure project targets are met and provide reports on activities and recruitment as required by the programme manager
  • Contribution to online presence of CGE, the development of case studies and success stories which can be disseminated as appropriate

You will have solid experience of working with businesses across sectors, of developing a network of contacts and working to targets and deadlines. You will have an excellent understanding of commercial needs, environmental innovations and challenges and ways in which industry can engage with universities and research projects.

This post is fixed term until March 2020 in the first instance and is subject to confirmation of funding. This post is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
