Salary: £12,346 per annum first year rising to £16,460 in fourth year

Applications are invited for the above Apprenticeship posts in the Department of Physics.  The Apprenticeship is from September 2019 for a fixed term period of 4 Years.Candidates who are currently in their first year of training at college are encouraged to apply.

Your role will be to learn and apply a wide range of specialist mechanical engineering skills and processes to support the Physics Department’s teaching facility and research groups.  You will be working with a team of experienced and skilled technical staff.

You will undertake a structured level 3 apprenticeship program, studying with Training 2000 in Blackburn*, where you will spend your first year.  You will spend the next three years in the Physics Department at Lancaster University, with day release for academic study, leading to level 4 (HNC) qualifications in mechanical engineering.

For this exciting opportunity you will need to:

  • Have obtained (or be expected to obtain) a minimum of five GCSE’s or equivalent at grade A–C to include Maths, English and a Science Subject.

  • Be enthusiastic about engineering and the opportunity of working in the Physics department at Lancaster University.

  • Have excellent communication skills. 

  • Be well motivated and pro-active with an ability to learn and apply observed practices.

  • Persons already in the first year of Mechanical Engineering Training are welcome to apply.
