Design Manager for the Social Sciences Funding Accelerator Project

Institute for the Contemporary Arts
Salary:   £26,243 to £32,236 Pro Rata
Closing Date:   Wednesday 17 July 2019
Interview Date:   To be confirmed
Reference:  N1944

This post is to support the Social Science Funding Accelerator, this project will bring new research in business engagement, social networking and creative exchange, and will have a substantial impact on both academics across FASS plus over 20 private, public and voluntary sector partners in Blackpool and Blackburn. It will establish ecosystems of collaboration and project working that will have a significant impact on health and wellbeing in these areas as well as generating numerous impact case studies in future REF exercises.  SSFA will achieve this by helping academics and external partners to form collaborations around new project ideas and support the development of new bids written by these consortia through a series of bid development workshops, training and writing retreats. This will precipitate new bid submission and successful projects.

This project is run by Professor Leon Cruickshank, Director of Research at ImaginationLancaster an internationally recognised design and innovation research centre in Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA). We conduct applied and theoretical research into people, products, places and their interactions. We work across traditional boundaries, linking disciplines and collaborating with organisations and universities nationally and internationally. Our work involves both experimental blue-sky conceptual development, as well as applied research that create pathways from the laboratory to the marketplace.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of the public sector and 3rd sector groups in Lancaster, Blackburn and Blackpool. You will be experienced connecting these partners with both academic and non-academic funding streams and opportunities. Finally you will be well versed in event organization and administrative support.
