We are seeking to appoint Library Services Advisers to join our User Services team at Lancaster University. Lancaster enjoys a top-ten ranking in the UK University league tables and we were University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2018.  Our Library service is innovative and sector leading, with a strong reputation across many areas.

You will become part of an enquiry team delivering front-line customer service excellence across library opening hours, supporting students, wherever they may be located, via existing and emerging communication channels. The team provide a proactive, welcoming, presence to all our users and assist in maintaining and developing the Library as an outstanding study environment. 

You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Reliability and previous experience of team working in a customer-focussed role are essential.  

In addition to the fixed hours, applicants may be asked to cover other shifts when needed, both during weekdays and at weekends.  

We are seeking to appoint to four profiles:

Post A (full-time, fixed-term to cover Maternity Leave for approximately 12 months)

  • Monday to Friday: 11.45-20.00.

  • One weekend in six, Saturday and Sunday 09.45-18.00 with Friday and Monday either side as days in lieu.

  • This role may be job shared.

Post B (part-time, permanent, all year round)

  • Monday to Friday: 18.00-24.00 in term time and Easter vacation.

  • Monday to Friday 16.00-22.00 in Christmas and Summer vacations. 

  • Progression to Grade 4 upon successful completion of the Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship if eligible.

  • This role may be job shared and applicants can apply for either two or three out of five evenings a week.

Post C (part-time, permanent, all year round)

  • Saturday and/or Sunday 07.45-16.00 in term-time.

  • Saturday and/or Sunday 09.45-18.00 in Christmas, Easter and Summer vacations.

  • This role may be job shared and applicants can apply for either Saturday, Sunday or both.

Post D (part-time, permanent, term-time and Easter vacation only)

  • Saturday and/or Sunday 07.45-16.00 in term-time.

  • Saturday and/or Sunday 09.45-18.00 in Easter vacation.

  • This role may be job shared and applicants can apply for either Saturday, Sunday or both.
