Opportunities Coordinator (Sports & Inclusion)

Students' Union
Salary:   £22,417 to £25,941
Closing Date:   Sunday 27 October 2019
Interview Date:   Wednesday 06 November 2019
Reference:  N1986

Are you passionate about driving positive change?

Do you take pride in taking action to ensure everyone feels like they belong?

Would you like the opportunity to help make sport more inclusive and diverse?

If the answer to all of the above questions is yes then this is the job for you!

Lancaster University Students' Union supports our members to be a force for positive change, we support their wellbeing and offer opportunities that aim to create a fantastic student experience! For many students, the activities we support are spaces where we do exactly that. For some students however, these activities can be very intimidating and exclusive which negatively impacts on their wellbeing and overall student experience. We are determined to tackle this.

At the end of the last academic year, we launched ‘All In’, a recognition scheme that aims to acknowledge and promote good practice among sports clubs already taking positive action and support them to identify where they can become more inclusive. Since the launch of ‘All In’ we have secured funding to pilot a more holistic approach to this within sport. We now have ambitions to not only improve the diversity of our sports clubs but drive a culture shift where inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do!

We are looking for a project catalyst, someone with the knowledge, passion and motivation to inspire and drive this change. Someone who can work as part of our dynamic sports staff team and in conjunction with our amazing student officers to bring this project to life.

This is a fixed term full time contract for 6 months and as such this opportunity would be considered as secondment from elsewhere. As a Students' Union, we have a hugely diverse membership and we are working towards our staff team reflecting this; we'd welcome any applications from black and minority ethnic candidates that help us to achieve this.
