Part-time Project Administrator for ACTUATE

Do you have experience of administering international projects? Are you interested in developing your skills to administer Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) projects? The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) aim is to support cutting-edge research and innovation that addresses the global issues affecting developing countries.

Africa is a strategic priority for Lancaster which is currently the only UK University to have a campus on the continent. The vision, objectives and work plan for the ACTUATE impact project emerge from Lancaster's deep engagement with researchers and research users in sub-Saharan Africa through several GCRF-funded research and capacity-building projects. This project builds on a portfolio of GCRF-funded research and knowledge exchangeat Lancaster specifically RECIRCULATE/ www.recirculate.global and The Centre for Global Ecoinnovation (CGE) http://www.globalecoinnovation.org

You will work under the supervision of the ACTUATE Project Manager and Director, working with our partners in Ghana and Nigeria to provide effective administrative support for the installation and optimisation of two off-grid community-based bioenergy systems – one on a University campus in NIgeria and one in a community school in Accra, Ghana. These demonstration projects will be the first of their kind and will be designed to increase the community and business uptake of energy from waste opportunities.

You will have proven project administration experience including an excellent level of computer literacy, experience of research grant management, research agreements and subcontracts, international travel, event coordination and in maintaining full GCRF compliant control of all financial transactions. Excellent communication skills will be required to liaise with multiple international project partners.

You will be required to make occasional visits to West African partners with other Project staff to support meetings and events throughout the duration of the project.

Fixed term position for 15 months and can be offered at 30 hours per week or full time. This post can be offered on a secondment basis subject to approval of your current line manager.
