Lancaster Arts: Where ideas, people and creativity connect

Lancaster Arts is excited to be recruiting an Assistant Curator to play a key role in our programme delivery and be a part of our Gallery and Programming teams. This role will support the curation and development of our visual arts & collections programme in the Peter Scott Gallery, across the Lancaster University campus and wider afield, wherever exhibitions may be situated. You will support the University and Curator to maintain a high standard of upkeep of the university’s art collection and enable the day-to-day running of the Gallery, liaising with artists, volunteers and with colleagues at the university.

This is a role requiring an enthusiasm for making things happen, artistic ambition and creative problem solving. Our ideal candidate will be curious and diligent with a combination of strong interpersonal and practical ‘can do’ skills. You will also be someone who can grow and develop with us as we explore new opportunities together.

Lancaster Arts is a distinctive contemporary arts organisation in the North West of England with a renowned reputation for cutting edge arts practice in all art forms. We are a part of the National Portfolio of Arts Council England. Our home is at the heart of the beautiful Lancaster University campus and our venues include the Great Hall, Nuffield Theatre and Peter Scott Gallery and we regularly host work off campus in the Lancaster District. We are proud of our artist development programme, which supports and features artists at all stages of their careers. In addition, we host a wide spectrum of events and participatory opportunities across contemporary theatre, dance, music, visual art, live art, contemporary circus, and comedy, and we work closely with partners locally, regionally and internationally to achieve this.

Lancaster Arts is committed to attracting and recruiting diverse candidates, particularly from communities who are currently less represented in the North West, including those with protected characteristics. We will guarantee interview to (dis)abled candidates who meet all essential criteria.

If this is of interest, please send a Cover Letter illustrating your suitability for the post, answering the person specifications, both essential and desirable and attach a c.v.
