Applications are invited for a part time Laboratory Technician (0.5 FTE) to contribute to an exciting new Faraday Institution funded project on the development of cathode materials for next generation lithium ion batteries - FutureCat. This role will be based at Lancaster University under the supervision of Drs Nuria Tapia-Ruiz and John Griffin. 

This position is part of a close collaboration between the Tapia-Ruiz and Griffin groups and co-investigators from across 5 institutions forming the FutureCat project consortium. Duties within the role include: carrying out materials characterisation and testing in accordance with defined procedures, being responsible for safety management related to the organisation and running of the laboratory, and documenting and organising research outputs and data relating to the project.

The successful candidate will also be expected to take a leading role in the upkeep and maintenance of project equipment and in the training and informal supervision of student and PDRA users. 

This position is available at Lancaster University from 1 January 2020. The initial position is available until March 2021, with an expectation that this will extend to a four-year position (up to September 2023).

The Faraday Institution has been established to provide incisive direction for the development of battery research in the UK with significant value placed on the inclusion of research groups with varied expertise in order to tackle the challenges provided by the advancement of battery technologies to meet the mounting environmental challenges that we currently face.
