The Research Services Office is part of the University’s Research and Enterprise Services Division. It provides expert advice, guidance and administrative support to Lancaster’s research community in the development of bids for externally funded research and the administration of successfully awarded grants and contracts. The team provides a range of research support activities at both pre- and post-award including advice on funders’ terms and conditions, proposal preparation, costing and pricing, post-award grant administration for research grants and contracts from a diverse range of researcher funders.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, initiative taking individual as a second team leader for our research post award support team. The individual will jointly coordinate the work of the team and ensure a consistent approach to quality support and high customer service standards with the existing Post-Award Team Leader. 

You should have experience of working in a research or project support environment supporting a diverse range of projects from various funders. You must be able to demonstrate your experience of working in a financial environment using financial computer systems to investigate, analyse and reconcile accounts. You should have experience of financial audits, working with auditors and monitoring compliance with policy and procedures. Other essential skills include excellent communications skills, an ability to build successful working relationships, the ability to lead and motivate a team and plan both your own and the team’s workloads to meet competing deadlines.

Experience of managing a team, improving staff performance through continual professional development and experience of using the Agresso financial system are desirable.

This is a full time, fixed term post until February 2021. Secondments for internal employees are welcome.
