Head of HR Partnering – Transformational Projects (maternity cover)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of HR Partnering to play a pivotal role in leading and delivering complex transformational change programmes across the University. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing HR Partnering Team, working collaboratively with senior leaders to deliver impactful, people-centred change.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Support transformational change through a structured but fast paced project management approach, ensuring delivery of key people-related activities including workforce planning, organisational design, stakeholder engagement, communication, change readiness, and implementation of new ways of working.
  • Act as the Operational Representative for the Division during periods of change, leading and coordinating the HR Partnering Team while working closely with the Head of Employee Relations to support industrial relations and consultation, ensuring legal compliance and good practice.
  • Partner with University leadership, supporting the People & Organisation Effectiveness (POE) leadership team to provide strategic and operational HR guidance during change, ensuring delivery of a high-quality HR advisory service.
  • Lead and inspire the HR Partnering Team, ensuring direction, motivation, and alignment to divisional and faculty needs, and championing the People and Culture Plan in line with the University’s overarching strategy.
  • Develop and embed strategic HR practices, including workforce and succession planning, leadership development, talent management, and capability building to enhance organisational performance.

About You

You will be a strategic HR professional with:

  • Proven experience leading HR teams in large, complex organisations undergoing transformation.
  • Strong knowledge of organisational change, project management principles, and employment law.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, advise, and partner with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and developing inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment between HR strategies and organisational goals.
