Lancaster University is seeking to appoint two Senior Lecturers in Architecture to join the team developing new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Architecture at Lancaster University. The posts will together take leading roles in the academic delivery and recruitment to the new Part I and Part II programmes, supporting our developing technology and professional practice activities and our network of industry links, collaborating on the establishment of our taught programmes, their research-led teaching, and the growth of our architectural research portfolio. The posts will join a new Chair of Architecture and an existing team of senior colleagues, as part of a £16m investment by Lancaster University to establish a new school of Architecture.
Based in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), architecture will become part of Lancaster’s highly ranked research base with its gold-rated teaching track record. Architecture in Lancaster will join LICA’s renowned research expertise, which engages design and the creative arts with science and technology. We see our industry partners in architecture as collaborators to support our objective of contributing to the Northern Powerhouse and infrastructure challenges. We are part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, which is ranked within the top 50 worldwide.
We are looking for 2 candidates with strong reputations for research and scholarship in architecture, PhDs or equivalent professional experience in architecture, and high levels of expertise and knowledge in architectural technology, theory, history, professional practice or business engagement. Candidates will have experience in engaging with external agencies, of shaping activities to benefit student experience, and of successful programme development and accreditation.
The new Senior Lecturers will contribute to the development of architecture to the launch of programmes over the next three years, including responsibility for shaping curricula and developing our research agendas.
