Lancaster University is seeking a Disability Advisor to join the Disability Service as soon as possible on a fixed-term basis until 3 July 2020. We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional individual to work as part of a team to provide information, advice and guidance to disabled students and to implement and facilitate their support across the institution.  

As a Disability Advisor you will be responsible for providing an excellent standard of service to students with a range of learning, mental health needs and disabilities. You will need to work as part of a team but also independently.  You will need to use your initiative and problem solving skills to find unique solutions to new situations and challenges on a regular basis. A significant aspect of the role will involve working collaboratively across the institution with academic and professional colleagues, so excellent communication skills are essential. Good time management and excellent administrative skills are also essential, including strong IT skills

Educated to A-level or equivalent, you will need relevant experience in a customer facing role as well as an understanding of the Equality Act 2010, relevant funding frameworks and the higher education sector.  Understanding of inclusive and accessible teaching and learning would be an advantage.  As part of the Disability Service team you will work to promote inclusive teaching and learning and encouraging anticipatory adjustments and good practice across the institution.
