The Research Services office is part of the university’s Research and Enterprise Services Division and provides expert advice, guidance and administrative support to Lancaster University’s research community in the development of bids for externally funded research and the administration of successfully awarded grants and contracts. The team provides a range of research support activities at both pre- and post-award including advice on funders’ terms and conditions, proposal preparation, costing and pricing and post-award grant administration for research grants and contracts from a diverse range of researcher funders.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Research Services Post-Award team to take on a varied and demanding role. The position provides administrative support for externally awarded research grants and contracts across a wide spectrum of external funders and works with staff across the university.

You should have experience of providing excellent customer-service focused administrative support; experience within a research environment in a higher education institution is an advantage but not essential. 

You should have experience of monitoring and reporting on financial income and expenditure, preferably using an electronic financial accounting system; and should be confident using computer packages to complete tasks quickly and accurately within strict deadlines. 

Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to providing high standards of customer service and working closely with a supportive and friendly post-award team. You should be self-motivated and keen to develop new skills, which will be supported by peers and managers.

This is a full time, indefinite role. We will consider requests for part time or flexible working.
